Then and now. Some of our kindergarten staff showed off their own kindergarten pictures!

Caffeine and kindness -- the Pirate Bay Cafe is open for business! Job Coach, Dionne Jilani, works with students in the student-run coffee shop. Located at the High School, students learn job skills from making coffee to running the cash register. Students are also mastering customer service skills as they say "thank you" to their customers!

High School secretaries work as a team. After all, it's a work of heart!

There is no school on Monday, September 2 for Labor Day. Enjoy a safe, respectful and responsible weekend!

Not everything you read on social media is true, but we heard a rumor that we confirmed. We even got pictures! The West Carrollton Fire Department came out to the Middle School football team practice to provide some cooling relief. It also gave the athletes an opportunity to learn how to play in the rain. The best part is it was fun for everyone!

Nastassia Person is excited to be a Pirate! She is the new Assistant Principal at the Intermediate School. She is enjoying meeting the students, staff and families. This is her 10th year working in education and we are happy she is bringing her experience to the Pirates!

A big THANK YOU to our friends at DMAX! They dropped by the Intermediate School this morning to drop off a donation of school supplies including notebooks, pens, pencils and backpacks. There were even items for teachers including dry erase markers, tissues and clorox wipes for the classroom. Intermediate School and district staff were on hand to thank the DMAX representatives for enriching the lives of our students and staff!

It's a virtual day as 6th grade STEM students try out some virtual reality equipment! It's another fun way for students to learn!

We now know that the Miamisburg Schools emergency alert call system reaches out to student emergency contacts, some of whom are from West Carrollton. The message that was sent by Miamisburg did not clarify what district was sending the message. We want to assure everyone that both Miamisburg and West Carrollton students are safe.

We have been made aware that Miamisburg schools are on lockdown. We don't know why, but some families from West Carrollton have been receiving a message intended for Miamisburg families that transportation will be delayed due to the lockdown. We want to assure West Carrollton School District families that this is NOT happening in West Carrollton. Our students are safe and will be arriving at bus stops at the regular time.

It's day one of Kindergarten Screening! We love meeting our new Pirates and families!

There are new Pirates on board! Human Resources Director, Devon Berry, and his Assistant, Lisa Green, are pictured in front of the group of new faces who will soon be in classes and/or providing services to students. Welcome!

What happens when you put kids and water together? Fun! That's exactly what happened today when the West Carrollton Fire Department came out to provide the water. The Marching Band and Pirettes provided the kids. Fun was had by all! #westcarrolltonhighschool

You may recognize Mr. Thobe. He is the principal at Harry Russell Elementary. This coming school year, he will be doing double duty. He will also be the principal at Harold Schnell Elementary. He is doing this with the help of a new Assistant Principal, LaShell Dauterman. We want to congratulate Ms. Yerman, the former principal at Harold Schnell, for her new role in the district as the Director of Student Services. #harryrussellelementary #haroldschnellelementary

Wendy Shields is the newest recipient of the Pirate Pride Award and was recognized by the Board of Education at the July 10 board meeting.
In May, Wendy stopped to let a student off the bus. After she made sure the student was safely across the street, she looked at the second floor of the student’s home and noticed flames coming out of the window.
She immediately radioed transportation while simultaneously motioning the student to come back to the bus. Wendy gave detailed information which helped expedite the arrival of the fire department.
The student was upset because her pets were inside the house. Wendy did an excellent job of consoling her while continuing with her route to get the remaining students safely home.
Transportation contacted the student’s mom and made plans for them to reunite with each other after Wendy was done with her route.
We are so glad Wendy was there and alert to the developing situation. Her observation and quick response prevented the student from entering the house and going into danger.
Thanks to Wendy, everyone was safe, including the pets who were rescued by the West Carrollton Fire Department.
Wendy is pictured with Transportation Supervisor, Kathy Allen.

Every bus is cleaned inside and out. Mechanics service each bus to make sure it is in safe working order. These are things that happen all year long, including the summer! If you're interested in joining the transportation team, call 937-859-5121, ext. 7.

We're taking a look back at another fun end of school event. Kindergarten students at the Early Childhood Center participated in Field Day that included outdoor and indoor activities! Thank you to all the volunteers who helped make this a special day! #westcarrolltonecc

What's happening behind the scenes at the future West Carrollton Elementary School? Walls are going up, but there's still a lot of work to be done. The building will house students in grades two through four and is scheduled to open for the 2025-26 school year. The Elementary School is one of two buildings in Phase II of the building project. The other is the West Carrollton Middle/High School which is scheduled to open for the 2026-27 school year. Phase I was construction of the West Carrollton Early Childhood Center that houses preschool through first grade students and West Carrollton Intermediate School that houses fifth and sixth grade students.
