The Franklin B. Walter Scholarship is awarded annually to one Senior from every High School in Montgomery County. Each scholarship recipient receives $1,000 to be used for continued education.
The 2025 recipient for West Carrollton Schools is Emma Lemons. Recipients are selected based on academic achievement, test scores, community service, school activities, awards, and a student essay.
Miss Lemons has participated in:
National Honor Society
Business Professionals of America
Cheerleading
Stable Worker Volunteer at Possum Creek Stables
Miss Lemons has already been recognized with the Governor’s Merit Scholarship. She will use any scholarships she receives to attend Kettering College to major in nursing with a goal of becoming a pediatric nurse.
Miss Lemons chose as her Educator of Influence, Visual Arts Teacher Matthew Reynolds.
According to Emma, Mr. Reynolds regularly asks his students about their goals and helps them understand the steps and choices they must make to get those things to happen. She says Mr. Reynolds taught her valuable life lessons and led her to follow her aspirations and take steps to make them happen.
Miss Lemons and Mr. Reynolds, along with other Franklin B. Walter scholarship recipients and Teachers of Influence from Montgomery County, were honored at a special luncheon hosted by the Montgomery County Educational Service Center.
