Meet A.J. He has been a Pirate since kindergarten.
He plans to attend Wright State University and has already received the 2025 West Carrollton VFW Post 3438 Scholarship for $3,000 that will help him with college costs. His 10-year goal is to become a commercial pilot which will allow him to travel the world. One of the countries he would like to visit is Spain and looks forward to discovering different communities and traditions.
Before taking off in that career, he will be enjoying his final days in High School. He likes seeing his friends every day and knows he won’t see them as often after graduation. A. J. appreciates the sense of community in his class and says, “It’s more of a family feeling.”
During High School, he participated in marching band, bowling, and baseball. He has been part of the band program since 6th grade beginning with concert band and then marching band in 8th grade.
Science is his favorite subject, and he says his High School Science teacher, Mr. Newman, “is enthusiastic about topics and makes it easy to follow even if they’re subjects I’m not most interested in.” He said elementary teachers Mrs. Sanders and Mrs. Wolff were big inspirations. “They stood out. I had a connection with them, and they gave me the most candy!”
Congratulations A. J.! You will always be a Pirate!
